Everybody likes likes. I mean, almost everyone. We get them on the FB, on the insta, the tik-tok, the twitter/X. Well, a lot of people do. Billions, actually. But what is a like in such a context? Does it actually communicate or signify something? Do they make us happier? Give our lives more meaning?
Or, are they just a way to let us know we have been seen in the pixels we inhabit on someone else’s screen? Are they something we chase in order to make ourselves or our lives feel better than they are? Don’t we only attempt to solicit likes for things we want others to see and know about us?
Are likes an end in themselves? Or a means to get something else? It is really hard to escape dualistic thinking!

Are our likes being counted? Tracked?

Are our likes a means for others to figure us out? Or, at least, enough so to know how to sell us anything?
I hope you are liking it here!
